Movies are the best. I mean, what would we do without movies? Well, just about anything else, but that’s beside the point! With this article, I’m going to share with you my nine favorite movies to watch right now.
Best Movies
1. Black and Blue
Starring Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger, Black and Blue are one of the best movies to watch right now. It’s a very famous drama about two police officers who are on the force at the same time. They aren’t friends; they’re not even acquaintances really. But they do share an experience that makes them understand each other in ways others can’t comprehend.
2. Forrest Gump
It’s impossible to not like this movie! Starring Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, it’s one of those kind-of-cheesy ’90s movies that will stay with you forever. Best thing about it? If you enjoy time travel, you basically get about fifty percent more of the film by watching it twice!
3. Godzilla
This one’s probably not for everyone, but if you enjoy a good monster flick then this is the movie to watch right now! It stars Matthew Broderick as a scientist who knows an ancient egg will hatch and create a huge storm of destruction unless he can stop it. He enlists the help of his estranged father (Bryan Cranston) to find the egg before it’s too late. Best part? The fight scene between Godzilla and King Kong at the end! Well, that and all the ’90s nostalgia.

4. Schindler’s List
Another one that’s not for everyone but this is probably the best movie to watch right now. It stars Liam Nelson as Oskar Schindler, a factory owner who uses his Jewish workers as numbers instead of people. He witnesses what happens during the war and decides he needs to help his workers escape before it’s too late. Best part? The movie actually starts out kind of funny so you might miss some serious stuff!
5. Jurassic Park
What list of movies would be complete without mentioning Jurassic Park at least once? Best known for its groundbreaking CGI, this thriller is about an amusement park with living dinosaur’s onsite. When they go rogue, chaos ensues! Best part? The T-rex scene where they try to get back to their car. Best movie right now!
7. Chef
This one’s all about food, family, and love! Best part? The movie starring Jon Favreau takes place over the course of 24 hours so you can watch it in one sitting if you’re really dedicated to your craft! It stars an award-winning chef who quits his job to start a food truck with his sous chef, played by John Leguizamo. Best part? The final scene is where they make pizza with their kids. A must-see!
8. Gone Girl
I’ll admit I haven’t seen this movie yet but it’s supposed to be one of the best movies right now that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Best part? The movie stars Ben Affleck as a writer whose wife goes missing. He’s immediately the suspect but what will happen when he starts digging into her past? The best part about it though is that you can watch it twice and see two different versions: one where she’s innocent and one where she’s guilty.
9. Guardians of the Galaxy
The last on my list is another comic book film, this time much more recent than all the others. Best known for its amazing soundtrack and hilarious scenes, it follows five unlikely heroes as they try to save their galaxy from certain destruction at the hands of an enemy race. Best part? Watching Chris Pratt sing “O-O-H Child” by The Five Stairsteps during the final credits! The best part about it, though, is that you can see it more than once and enjoy it just as much.
