PS5 Features Vs. Xbox Series X Vs. PS4

Posted on

Over the last years, PS4 has done fantastic for Sony, but by the end of this year, its successor will take its place. Will they make a lot of changes to the PS5 console, what will improve, and what will remain the same? Let’s have a look at some traits the PS5 console is rumored to have in comparison to PS4 and other consoles.

PS5 Features Vs. Xbox Series X Vs. PS4

Specs and design

Patent designs of the PS5 console show that it will likely embrace a new V-shaped design which means the console will be able to keep cool while operating. The standard disc drive and ports will still be there but with a renewed, more futuristic shape. Looking at PS4 console, it does not stand out from the crowd, Xbox series X does not really bring much attention to itself either, and the same cannot be said for the new PS5 console.

Much like Xbox series X, the PS5 is likely to have a 4K compatible Blu-ray drive, a frame rate of 120 FPS and it will support 8K resolution, an advantage you can only enjoy if you have an 8K-ready TV. The icing on the PS5 cake would be the new, sort of customized ultra-fast SSD which, with a good internet connection, will work faster and it will allow you to download games if you do not like buying discs.

Controllers

A real gamer knows how important controllers are, and you may be pleased to hear that Sony has made an addition to its PS5 Dual Sense controller; you will be now able to physically feel the virtual things. Although it remains unknown for now, to the player the in-game sensations should feel a little more realistic, speaking theoretically. This may seem like a minor upgrade from PS4 but one that could make the difference. The Xbox is definitely not behind with its controllers, if anything it looks just as promising as PS5. The already released Xbox Elite Controller – Series 2 with rubber grips, adjustable-tension thumbsticks, and a rechargeable built-in battery with up to forty hours of duration is pretty impressive indeed.

Interface

There is not supposed to be any major changes in the new PS5 console’s interface. The main bar will still be horizontal with vertical submenus. But there seems to be quite a difference with the games and apps section; while you have to sort through one menu to separate the media apps and games on PS4, with the new console the two sections will be already made.

Special features

Just like with the PS4 console, the PSVR headset will also work with the new one which is great news for VR fans. There are also a few hints that the streaming capabilities of cloud gaming will be greatly improved on the PS5. There is also a rumor that the new PS5 and the Xbox series X will both feature a built-in camera that will help the in-game streaming.
